erected 1694 in honor of the celebrated
cardinal.   70ft high, upon a stone
pedestal 40 ft.        The head, hands
and feet are of bronze, the robe of
wrought copper,   held together by clamps
and masonry within.     There are
ladders within to reach the head
which is large enough to contain
three persons,  the nose making a
comfortable seat,   but the heat and
bats render it an unenjoyable ascent.
