sized hansome [sic] park a half mile outside the city,  well
furnished with Animals, Birds, fowls, +c     A floral
exhibition had recently been held there in halls and tents
specially erected,   and although faded a little, the rooms
were yet full as through nothing had been removed.  The
display of flowers and plants was quite refreshing-
This promenade among Animal pens and Bird cages requires
a long walk and Anna surprised us all by her endurance
The large animals are larger than those at Hamburg,  but
the variety of small ones, is not so great,  nor so large a
collection of Birds.     Here for the fist time we saw large
Ostriches, and were particularly interested in some long-legged
Birds of the crane species-

it is not permitted, or even desirable if allowed.  It would require a
week to walk through the whole of the extensive rookery,    but
we have been into the portion containing the curiosities and
crown jewels,   and here I am at a loss to know what to say,
rushed through in “one hour” according to strict government
rules- we never before saw so much in one hour,  and
when we had been hurried out into the vestibule, we seated our-
selves to rest our bewildered brains and fix in our memory’s
some of the details-      Not about the building, for that is as
shabby within as without, but “the Curiosities”,  the curiosities,
