20th Saturday. Well, here we are in Dresden, the old capital of
Saxony. Arrived last evennight 1230, a cab ride of half
a mile, across the old stone bridge over the Elbe, took us to
the Hotel Bellevue on the bank of the river at the right of the
Bridge- where we found good
rooms awaiting us, as per Henrys
telegram- three nicely furnished
rooms on the first floor, good view
onto the river and city-
After waiting an hour for our
trunks to come from the station
Henry brought them up, with the
tale of his misfortune, his trunk
had been stolen- He
had telegraphed this Hotel to have
an omnibus at the station to
carry the luggage, but upon
our arrival, found different
regulations. No omnibus or [-King of Saxony-]
baggage waggons are allowed there- Baggage must be
delivered by certain runners with handcarts, commissioned b y
the Railway co who thereby derive a small revenue to the
great inconvenience of travellers [sic]- Henry gave his baggage
check to Conv No 4 and came with us to the Hotel- After
much delay the Conv arrived with his cart saying, that
