From this Park we enter the city at the “Brandenberg Gate,” a structure 62 ft high and 200ft wide erected in 1789, surmounted by a colossal group in bronze 20ft high, very fine, which the 1st Napoleon carried off to Paris, but was compelled afterwards to return them. subject= “chariot of victory”- From here we enter the wide avenue (nearly 200ft) called the “Unter den Linden” which is about a mile in length stopping at the River, near the centre of the city, and around the lower end of which is situated their palaces, museums and finest works of art.
