its nose, flopping it around, but not ceasing the mechanical reading, the nurse answering “Amen” frequently, and the young worldly looking Priest then laid his holy mantle on its breast and led the Nurse up into the small pulpit of the baptistery where I lost sight of the motions until the Priest left, when I found the Nurse powdering and straightening up the poor infant which ought not to have been exposed to the cold damp atmosphere of this great open barn-
