beautiful rainbows (when the sun is unobscured), Little Falls
twenty of them, are seen from here, shooting over the perpendic-
ular clifs around us,  multiplying the size and velocity of this
branch of the Lutichine which tumultuously tumbles down this
precipitous gorge, over and around the many great boulders
which have fallen from above.

3 Leave a comment on paragraph 3 0 20th    We have found Interlaken rather cool for comfort and
just now, also a little lonesome, with these empty Hotels, but
the days are becoming clearer cheering us with the suns warming
presence.           Winters, in this little valley and village of Laut-
erbrunnen straight up the gorge before our window, must be an
undesirable season where, in addition to the drifting snow filling the
crevices and ravines over which the ^villagers^ must daily pass,  they do  not
have sunrise until noon,      and from their darkness must look envi-
ously upon the wider spot of a valley, blessed with early morning sun.
