One day was devoted to an excursion to Potsdam and its environs, where the reminiscences of Great Frederick abound in the results of a lavish expenditure of money, united with the Good taste of a Great mind. We reach Potsdam by railway train in little less than an hour. Enter a carriage and drive through the city into the Royal gardens beyond, stretching out two or three miles in circumference. Driving around to the left we alight at the little residence of King Wilhelm when he was crown Prince, called “Charlottenhof”, full of Royal curiosities where we enjoy an hours ramble, through the apartments where
